Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale on Wednesday, April 30 held a consultative meeting with delegation from the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) led by Hassan Ole Naado.
Talks between the duo focused more on strategic partnerships aimed to enhance access to quality healthcare under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) framework.
SUPKEM, which runs 20 hospitals, 12 health centres, and 32 dispensaries across the country, reaffirmed its commitment to expand collaboration with the Ministry of Health in delivering maternal and mental health services to marginalised communities.
Duale called on SUPKEM to engage with other Muslim professional organisations anchored in trust and integrity, to support the provision of equitable and effective healthcare at the grassroots level.
The Cabinet Secretary urged the council to mobilise community members for registration under the Social Health Authority (SHA) to accelerate the rollout of the Taifa Care model.
In addition, Duale updated the delegation on the Ministryβs efforts to strengthen digital health governance, highlighting ongoing actions to eliminate unqualified medical practitioners.
Further, He urged SUPKEM to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for accreditation and facility upgrades.
Dr. Salim Hussein, the director of primary health care, and Dr. Patrick Amoth, the director general for health, attended the meeting.
