10 MPs championing grassroots development across Kenya – Kenyatrack survey

The latest survey by Kenyatrack has ranked the most performing Members of Parliament (MPs) in Kenya.

The survey, released on Wednesday, July 9, interviewed individuals who are registered as voters (18 years and above) across all the 47 counties.

In the survey, ten MPs emerged as trailblazers, delivering on development, uplifting their communities, and proving that true leadership is rooted in service.

Their impact spans education, infrastructure, and youth empowerment, demonstrating that progress begins in our constituencies.

Benjamin Mwangi Gathiru – Embakasi Central

MP Benjamin Gathiru, the respondents said, has made tremendous strides in improving education, constructing new classrooms, renovating existing ones, and disbursing bursaries to deserving students.

He has improved feeder roads and partnered on the tarmacking of busy community routes. He has also expanded access to electricity in densely populated zones and informal settlements.

Water access has improved through borehole drilling, while hygiene and sanitation efforts have reduced health risks. To empower youth, he continues supporting short vocational and entrepreneurship courses for school leavers.

Majimbo Kalasinga – Kabuchai

In Kabuchai, MP Majimbo Kalasinga, the respondents opined, has renovated learning facilities, increased bursary allocations, and established digital labs in schools.

His leadership has seen the grading and improvement of feeder roads and the tarmacking of key community links. Solar lighting and electricity expansion have reached underserved homes.

Kalasinga has also invested in borehole projects for both domestic use and small-scale farming. He has also introduced youth training programs in ICT, tailoring, and agribusiness to boost self-reliance.

Joaseph Kamau Mùnyoro – Kigumo

In Kigumo, MP Munyoro has prioritized agribusiness training for youth and support for tea and coffee farmers.

He has also upgraded health centers with new equipment and championed road rehabilitation, linking remote villages to main trading centers.

Ndindi Nyoro – Kiharu

MP Ndindi Nyoro’s impact in Kiharu is anchored in education, with widespread school renovations, classroom construction, and fair bursary distribution.

He has spearheaded the construction of quality tarmac roads and opened new feeder roads linking rural communities. Electrification projects have connected thousands of homes and institutions.

Water programs now serve villages and farms with clean water for domestic and irrigation use. His support for TVET programs has enabled youth to acquire technical and digital skills relevant to today’s job market.

Eric Wamumbi – Mathira

In Mathira, MP Eric Wamumbi has improved schools by renovating infrastructure, funding bursaries, and upgrading learning materials.

His leadership in road development has ensured smoother movement of goods and people, especially along feeder roads. Rural electrification has seen new transformers and poles set up in interior areas.

Clean water projects through community water tanks and boreholes are serving households and boosting kitchen garden irrigation. Youth in Mathira are benefitting from sponsored TVET courses, including electrical, plumbing, and agritech.

Stanley Muiruri Muthama – Lamu West

MP STanely Muthama, the respondents said, has prioritized education by constructing classrooms in remote islands, issuing bursaries, and enhancing school facilities.

He has initiated road upgrades and tarmacking in key urban and rural areas to support trade and mobility. Community-wide solar and electricity programs are lighting up homes and schools.

Water access has improved through desalination projects and rainwater harvesting for domestic use. He has launched maritime and fisheries-focused TVET training to equip youth with skills tailored to Lamu’s economic ecosystem.

Edwin Mugo – Mathioya

MP Edwin Mugo has improved learning environments by building dormitories, renovating labs, and funding bursaries.

He has overseen the grading and surfacing of roads to improve access between villages and markets. Electrification projects continue to reach more homes and institutions.

Water piping extensions and community wells now support both domestic use and tea farming. His office funds short vocational training programs targeting youth in renewable energy, beauty therapy, and business development.

Phyllis Jepkemoi – Moiben

In Moiben, MP Phyllis Jepkemoi has improved classroom infrastructure and introduced lunch programs in all public day secondary schools and informal settlements. She has also issued bursaries targeting needy students.

She has overseen construction and rehabilitation of rural access roads. Through her leadership, more homes have been connected to electricity and public lighting.

She has invested in water tanks and boreholes for homes and school gardens. In addition, she promotes TVET programs focused on food processing, early childhood care, and tailoring for young women and men.

Babu Owino – Embakasi East

MP Babu Owino has transformed education in Embakasi East by sponsoring thousands of students in high school and university, building classrooms, and running free revision programs.

He has lobbied for improved road networks within estates and informal settlements, reducing travel time and increasing safety. His push for widespread street lighting and electricity connections continues.

He has initiated boreholes in schools and public grounds to improve access to clean water. His youth empowerment model includes coding bootcamps, sports development, and technical training for skills like DJing, plumbing, and digital marketing.

Irene Njoki – Bahati

MP Irene Njoki has strengthened the education sector through bursary disbursement, classroom construction, and support for girl-child education.

She has championed the upgrading of roads in peri-urban areas and improved drainage systems. More homes and public spaces now enjoy electricity and streetlights.

Through borehole sinking and tank installation, she has enhanced access to water for homes and school farms. Her youth empowerment programs offer training in hospitality, hairdressing, and mechanic

These ten MPs have embraced grassroots-driven development anchored on education, infrastructure, water, power, and youth empowerment.

Their collective work speaks to what is possible when leadership is intentional, inclusive, and action-oriented.
