Ahmadiyya Muslims call for respect of women rights across the globe

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has called for the respect of women rights across the globe with governments being urged to create frameworks that will enable women play a central role in society development.

Speaking during the 59th Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in the United Kingdom, the sect’s spiritual leader Hazrat Mirza Masroor called for women empowerment at family level, as a building block for enhancing women role in the greater economy.

“Men and women deserve the same equal rights,” preached Masroor, “It is not good to suppress the rights of women.”

A section of Islam scholars present at the spiritual event said the high rate of femicide can be reduced if women were empowered to take a central role in society and economically liberated.

“Islam teachings have clearly defined roles for both men and women. Men are supposed to be providers while women are home makers as such bringing out equity,” noted Rahma Kassim, an advocate of the Kenya High Court.

In a summon shared to women during the ongoing annual Jalsa Salana, Ahmadiyyia Muslim spiritual leader Masroor highlighted that women empowerment should start from within the family set up, with a just provision for all family members; education has been taunted as key in elevating women standing in society.

“Women have a great responsibility in the society. Even within the family set up, women are great contributors of success,” Issa Khatib, an Ahmadiyya faithful from Mumias, Kenya, said.

Other religions have been advised to prioritize incorporating women empowerment policies in their teachings.

The 59th Ahmadiyya three days convention ends Sunday, July 27 with attendees and leaders calling for world peace.
