Police officers from Luanda Police Station in Vihiga County conducted a successful operation in Emabungo Location following a tip-off about suspicious cartons left behind by an unknown motorcycle rider.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers inspected the boxes and discovered 16 bales of suspected Cannabis sativa (bhang), weighing approximately 40 kilograms.
The narcotics were seized as exhibits, and investigations are underway to establish the identity and whereabouts of the motorcycle rider.
Meanwhile, NPS urged the public to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via toll-free numbers or WhatsApp for a prompt response.
This follows an incident where police officers manning the Watiti Roadblock acted swiftly on intelligence received from a vigilant member of the public, who reported a suspicious individual on a motorbike who appeared hesitant to cross the police barrier.
A few minutes later, the described motorbike (registration number KMQZ 007K) approached the roadblock. The rider attempted to evade the spikes but was promptly stopped by officers on duty.
The rider, carrying a blue safari bag strapped to his back, was subjected to a search. Upon opening the bag, officers discovered a dried plant material suspected to be cannabis sativa, weighing approximately 3 kilograms.
The suspect was immediately arrested and escorted to Bute Police Station, where he was placed in custody. He was arraigned in court on 5th August 2025.
