A 19-year-old man who claims to be the son of President William Ruto has told a Nairobi Court that he dreams of becoming a barista.
Nelson Ibrahim Kidero, who also goes by the name Nelson Murithi, appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Mark Ekhubi on charges of unlawful entry into the parliamentary precincts.
During the hearing, Magistrate Ekhubi expressed his hopes that the young man would one day pursue a career in law and possibly become a magistrate himself. However, Kidero told the court that his ambition is to work as a coffee maker.
The magistrate released Kidero on condition that he does not repeat the offence within a year. He was handed over to his uncle, with instructions to ensure the young man receives medical attention.
“Since he was brought before this court, we have made efforts to reach his family members. Please tell his father to be more caring towards his son,” Magistrate Ekhubi urged the uncle.
The uncle assured the court that he would take full responsibility for Kidero’s care and well-being.
Kidero was charged with unlawful entry into parliamentary precincts contrary to Section 31(1)(a) as read with Section 31(2) of the Parliamentary Powers and Privileges Act, 2017.
According to the charge sheet, on August 7, 2025, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Kidero was found without lawful authority in the parking area of the Bunge Towers within Nairobi County.
