Police officers from Western region arrested five suspects for various crimes during a security operation in Kakamega Town on Saturday August 16, 2025.
The officers were acting on intelligence provided by members of the public during the crackdown.
“Five suspects were arrested in Kakamega Town for various offences, including possession of approximately 1,412 rolls of bhang, uncustomed goods comprising 16 packets of Oris cigarettes, 25 packets of Milano cigarettes, one packet of Supermatch, and suspected stolen property, including three 6kg gas cylinders and other assorted items,” read part of the police statement.
All suspects remain in custody and will be arraigned in court on Monday, 18 August 2025.
At the same time, the National Police Service expressed its commitment to the ongoing fight against narcotics, illicit brews, and related criminal activities.
Elsewhere in Likoni Sub-County, Mombasa County, police conducted an intelligence-led operation on August 16, 2025, targeting criminal gangs.
During the operation, officers arrested a male suspect who was armed with a panga (machete) and found in possession of three rolls of cannabis sativa (bhang).
The suspect was escorted to police custody, where he is awaiting processing and arraignment.
“The National Police Service reiterates its commitment to flushing out criminals and ensuring the safety and security of all Kenyans, residents, and visitors,” police reported.
