Rising proudly in the heart of Mutuini stands the nearly complete Mama Rachael Ruto Mutuini County Hospital, a state-of-the-art facility already being hailed as a game-changer in Nairobi’s healthcare system.
Now 90 percent complete, the hospital will soon open its doors with an impressive 400-bed capacity, promising to bring specialized medical services closer to the people.
Commissioned earlier this year by President William Ruto and Nairobi Governor Sakaj Johnson during a five-day Nairobi development tour, the hospital represents a new dawn for public healthcare in the capital.
“Once operational, the facility will host a wide range of advanced services, including renal dialysis, oncology and chemotherapy, neonatal and pediatric intensive care units, a full ICU and HDU, a burns and plastic surgery unit, specialized wards and clinics, and three modular live operating theatres,” Sakaja confirmed.
The hospital will also feature a newborn unit, eye and dental care centers, orthopedic unit, ENT clinic, and modern imaging facilities such as a 128-slice CT scan and X-ray unit, along with a heart diagnosis (ECHO) center.
Governor Sakaja noted that Nairobi’s Level 5 hospitals are already running more efficiently under a new administrative model led by professional Chief Executive Officers, improving both service delivery and accountability.
“We’ve changed how county hospitals are managed. Each Level 5 hospital now has a CEO, and we’re already seeing better service delivery, discipline, and patient satisfaction,” Sakaja said.
With the Mama Rachael Ruto Mutuini County Hospital nearing completion, the Governor reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that every Nairobi resident has access to quality, dignified, and affordable healthcare without having to travel far from home.
