Two people succumbed in a road accident at Flax Forest along the Eldoret-Eldama Ravine Road in Elgeyo-Marakwet County on Wednesday, June 18.

According to reports, the accident involved a private car and a motorcycle, with the deceased being those of the private car.

Witnesses say the private car tried to evade an oncoming vehicle, which led it to hit a tree, and thereafter the two died on the spot. However, the motorcycle rider sustained severe injuries, including breaking his leg.

The possible cause of the accident is heavy rains since the car is said to have rolled several times before crashing into the tree.

Flax forest is a well-known black spot and is located close to the spot where the world Champion Kelvin Kiptum was involved in a fatal accident in February 2024
