AIPCA church disowns women who disrupted service attended by President Ruto

The African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA) has stated that women caught on camera causing disruptions during Sunday’s church service in Gatundu are not church members.

The incident occurred when Gatundu North MP Njoroge Kururia referred to Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi as the ‘outgoing governor,’ triggering chaos in the congregation.

Videos and photos circulating online show women heckling and creating commotion during the service, which was attended by President William Ruto.

Footage also captured Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a and Kiambaa MP John Kawanjiku, raising questions about the nature of the disturbance.

Many online observers suggested the disruption appeared politically motivated rather than religious.

Church leadership firmly denied the women were congregants, pointing to their attire as evidence.

“Those were women who had worn trousers, had make-up and jewelleries, and they were not members of AIPCA. In our church, women don’t come with trousers,” church officials explained.

The church characterized the disruptors as hired individuals, noting that photographs showed them wearing tight trousers, earrings, and other accessories that violate church dress codes.

Officials added that the blue uniforms worn by genuine AIPCA women members are only available at church headquarters and cannot be easily obtained elsewhere.

Church representatives claimed some of the women appeared intoxicated and were cheering for both Governor Wamatangi and MP Ng’ang’a during the service, behavior inconsistent with church protocols.

Despite the incident, AIPCA leadership emphasized that politicians remain welcome in their places of worship, describing the church as “a house of God and hence a house for everyone.”

The church has requested Kenyans refrain from blaming church leadership for the disruption and avoid targeting them on social media platforms.
