Akothee warns against exposing too much of personal life on social media

The spotlight has once again turned to digital creator Ruth K after musician and entrepreneur Akothee publicly commented on the controversy surrounding her personal life, reigniting online debate about accountability, boundaries, and the cost of living one’s life in public view.

Akothee, known for her blunt and often polarising takes, addressed the unfolding drama in remarks shared on social media, urging young women in the public eye to protect their dignity, personal spaces, and especially their children from online spectacle.

While she did not mention Ruth K by name in explicit detail, her comments were widely interpreted by netizens as a response to the ongoing situation surrounding Ruth’s highly publicised fallout with close associates and her former partner.

Following the renewed attention, Ruth K released a statement clarifying her position and drawing firm lines around her private life.

She acknowledged the mistakes made in trusting the wrong people with access to her personal and professional spaces but insisted that she is now focused on rebuilding stability for herself and her child.

“I have learned painful lessons,” Ruth noted in her message, adding that some matters should never be negotiated in public, no matter the pressure to explain or defend oneself online.

The controversy took a darker turn after claims emerged online alleging that Ruth K deliberately caused her son emotional distress in order to create a reason to contact his father, comedian Mulamwah.

The allegation was introduced publicly by a former close associate during the height of their fallout. In a series of social media statements, the associate claimed that Ruth would intentionally provoke the child to cry so she could send videos or messages to Mulamwah, forcing communication between them amid their strained co-parenting relationship.

The claim immediately triggered outrage online, largely because it involved a minor and was aired in the court of public opinion rather than through any legal or child-protection channels. Netizens questioned both the credibility of the accusation and the decision to make such a serious claim publicly.

Ruth K strongly denied the allegation, dismissing it as malicious, exaggerated, and born out of personal vendetta following the breakdown of trust between her and the former associate.

She maintained that her child has never been used as leverage in her relationship with Mulamwah and accused her critics of weaponising motherhood to damage her reputation.

Mulamwah, while not directly addressing the specific allegation in detail, urged the public to stop dragging their child into adult conflicts. He emphasized that matters concerning their son should remain private and handled away from social media.

As the dust settles, Ruth K appears determined to step back from public confrontations. She has confirmed cutting off professional and personal ties with individuals she says breached her trust and has appealed for privacy as she focuses on healing and motherhood.

The episode serves as a reminder that while social media offers influence and opportunity, it also demands restraint. In a space where everything is shareable, choosing what to keep private may be the most powerful decision of all.
