Alai blames Orengo for Raila’s 2022 Presidential election loss

Nairobi, Kileleshwa, MCA, Robert Alai, has accused Siaya Governor, James Orengo of contributing to the political miscalculations that he claims weakened the late Baba, Raila Odinga’s 2022 bid in his election for presidential position.

In his strong allegations, Robert Alai claims, James Orengo’s push in 2018 to remove the then Senate Minority Leader Moses Wetang’ula, pushed Bungoma Senator closer to the now President of Kenya Dr. William Ruto. This move as claimed by Alai costed late Raila Odinga the western votes, especially votes from Bungoma County.

”Governor James Orengo also forgets that he was among the key contribution to Raila’s inability to forge a proper alliance in 2022. It was James Orengo who in mid 2018 , waged a relentless war to remove the then Senate Minority Leader and Bungoma Senator, Moses Wentang’ula as Minority Leader.” Alai said.

According with Alai, Moses Weng’ula only joined Ruto after he was ousted from being the minority leader in the Senate, adding that the separation made it hard for Raila’s camp to acquire support from the region during the 2022 election.

Alai also questioned the ability of Edwin Sifuna, the Secretary General for ODM Party ability to deliver Bungoma county politically, arguing that the county’s political dynamics require broader alliances.

In Alai’s statement, he further accused James Orengo of trying to position himself as a defender of Odinga’s political legacy while apparently ignoring the decisions that he claims resulted to the opposition leaders defeat in 2022.

”Following James Orengo blindly is the surest way to political annihilation in 2027.” Alai noted.

Alai’s statement has hence sparked different reactions from Kenyans, questioning his ability to question Orengo.

”You have no muscle to advice a man that is 10 times wiser than you in almost all aspects of life. A man that was admired by even our alliance for you to agree with him.” One Kenyan noted.

”Remind that man that Orengo is a man full of wisdom and he ( Orengo ) sees while seated is beyond that Alai’s view.” Another one added.

Alai warned that assuming such political mistakes could lead to serious implications come 2027 general elections. And no one should follow Orengo blindly unless they want to kill their political career.
