The former Nairobi Central Police Station Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Samson Talam was last year charged with the murder of blogger Albert Ojwang.
Justice Diana Kadveza has ordered prison officers to ensure Talam is taken to hospital for specialized medical treatment.
During proceedings on Wednesday, March 11 morning, Talam’s lawyer Stanley Kangahi informed the court that his client has developed a medical complication related to a previous kidney condition.
The lawyer told the court that Talam has been experiencing health problems in recent weeks and requires urgent medical attention from specialists at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
According to the defence, the accused has a history of kidney illness and his condition has recently worsened, prompting the request for medical evaluation and tests at the national referral hospital.
The prosecution told the court that it had no objection to the request for Talam to be taken to hospital for treatment.
After considering the application, the court allowed the request, directing that Talaam be escorted to Kenyatta National Hospital to see a specialist. The court also ordered that a medical report be filed in court after the examination.
The case will come up again on March 17, 2026 for hearing.
Today’s mention was to inquire whether CCTV footage related to the case had been obtained.
