Radio presenter Alex Mwakideu ignited a public debate this Friday, December 12, 2025, when he questioned a growing trend among married men. Speaking on his show, Mwakideu addressed the use of enhancement pills during extramarital affairs.
He suggested that many men seem intent on “performing better” only when they are away from their homes.
“Ukiwa nyumbani, hauna haja ya tembe, ukienda away unataka ushinde ile away match,” he observed.
Mwakideu wondered aloud why the need for “extra strength” seems to arise only in these external situations.
The presenter used a series of sharp, rhetorical questions to challenge the mindset of these men. He questioned why they prioritise the need to impress partners outside their marriages.
He asked why men seek validation and praise from outside partners.
Mwakideu questioned why the desire to perform is stronger in affairs than at home.
He urged them to consider why they don’t invest the same energy into their marriages.
“Mbona unataka kutamba away? By the way, mbona hutaki kutamba home?” he posed.
Mwakideu also raised concerns about the competitive mentality that appears to drive some men during affairs. He questioned who placed them in a competition in the first place.
“Nani amewaweka kwa mashindano? Who are you competing against?” he asked.
He suggested that men reflect on their choices instead of seeking validation outside their homes.
Mwakideu urged them to focus on their personal commitment: “Pita sekunde yako moja yenye Mungu amekupatia,” he said.
The comments from the veteran presenter have added weight to ongoing conversations in Kenya about infidelity, marital commitment, and the complex relationship between sexual health and relationship expectations.
While Mwakideu did not shame anyone, his questions underscored the social and emotional factors that push some men towards using pills during affairs. Ultimately, he urged men to focus on building stronger relationships at home and to consider the impact of their decisions on their families.
