Mogotio Member of Parliament (MP) Reuben Kiborek has announced that all day school secondary schools in his constituency will be free of charge, and that students will not be required to pay school fees.
Speaking on Thursday, February 12 when he launched the 2025/2026 NG-CDF Bursary Disbursement Programme at Rosoga Girls High School, MP Kiborek insisted no day school student will be required to pay even a single cent, in a direct jab at his Kiharu counterpart Ndindi Nyoro, who announced a major reduction in day secondary school fees from Ksh1,000 to just Ksh500 per term for all learners from Grade 10 to Form Four.
“Day schools Mogotio, kuanzia leo kuenda mbele ni free of charge! Day school hakuna kulipa school fees. The entire constituency, watoto wetu ambao wako day school ni free of charge,” MP Kiborek said, adding “na kuna wengine naskia wanalipisha KSh500 per term, wakuje niwaonyeshe vile nimefanya ndiyo iwe free!”
During the event, a total of KSh69,340,000 was disbursed to support students in secondary schools, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, polytechnics, Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) campuses, colleges, and universities across the country.
This significant investment, the lawmaker said, is aimed at easing the financial burden on families and safeguarding the academic dreams of the young people of Mogotio.
In a landmark achievement for Mogotio Constituency, boarding school students will each receive KSh10,000 in bursary support, orphans will benefit from full scholarships, while students in TVETs, polytechnics, KMTC, colleges, and universities will also received bursary allocations to support their continued studies and professional training.
“We remain resolute in our mission to ensure that every child and young person, regardless of background, has a fair and equal opportunity to learn, acquire skills, grow, and succeed,” MP Kiborek noted.
