Alliance Girls High School teacher accused of sexual abuse resigns from the TSC

A long-serving teacher at Alliance Girls High School, who faced public and official scrutiny over allegations of sexual grooming and abuse, has resigned from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) after 26 years.

Peter Albert Ayiro, who was accused of misconduct spanning more than two decades, cited “cyberbullying” and “public humiliation” as reasons for his departure.

In a resignation letter dated August 17, 2025, and addressed to the TSC, Ayiro maintained his innocence but stated he could no longer endure the “persistent threats” and “public shame.” He wrote that the accusations had subjected him to “great stress and strain” and that his decision was made to protect his “dignity and peace of mind.

The resignation comes as Ayiro was under investigation following an exposé published in July by Africa Uncensored, an independent media outlet.

The detailed report, led by journalist and Alliance alumna Christine Mungai, featured accounts from former students and staff.

These individuals accused the teacher of a calculated pattern of sexual grooming and abuse. During his tenure, Ayiro held several influential positions at the school, including Christian Union patron, drama club mentor, and spiritual advisor.

In response to the report, the TSC had placed Ayiro on compulsory leave for 30 days, effective July 15, 2025, pending a formal investigation.

The suspension letter, signed by Acting TSC CEO Evaleen Mitei, stated that he was being investigated for breaching several provisions of the Teachers Service Commission Act, including the Code of Regulations for Teachers and the Code of Conduct and Ethics.
