Nominated Member of Parliament, Hon. Denar Joseph Hamisi, MP, has died. Hamisi passed away this morning, Saturday, 6th December 2025, at approximately 7:00 am.
National Assembly Speaker, Moses Wetang’ula, broke the news while conveying the condolesense of behalf of the house and the nation, describing his passing as a great loss.
Hamisi, was nominated to the National Assembly by the Amani National Congress (ANC) Party following the 2022 General Elections, was a dedicated legislator.
In the national assembly, he served on the Departmental Committee on Sports & Culture and the Select Committee on National Cohesion & Equal Opportunities.
Born in Kinango in 1969, Hon. Hamisi was highly educated, holding a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management and a Master’s in International Business Administration (MIBA) from USIU, and a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Nairobi.
His distinguished career in public and private sectors was marked by unwavering commitment. Prior to Parliament, Hon. Denar held influential roles, including Director of the Coast Development Authority (2007–2010), Commissioner of the former Electoral Commission of Kenya (ECK) (2007–2008), Director of the Kenya Airports Authority (2009–2012), and Director of the Kenya National Accreditation Services (2011–2012). He was also a Council Member for the University of Nairobi (2013–2018) and Moi University (2021–2022).
Speaker Wetang’ula remembered the late MP for his humility, professionalism, and steadfast commitment to service to the nation.
A team led by the Deputy Leader of the Majority Party, Hon. Owen Baya Yaa, CBS, MP, has been appointed to liaise with the family and coordinate a befitting send-off.
