Kenya Power will turn off electricity in parts of Nairobi, North Rift, Western, South Nyanza, and Mt. Kenya regions on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
The planned maintenance is meant to upgrade power lines and ensure more stable service in the future. Residents are asked to prepare for day-long blackouts.
Kenya power will conduct scheduled maintenance affecting parts of Nairobi, Central Rift, North Rift, Western, South Nyanza, and Mt. Kenya Regions.
In Nairobi, areas along Naivasha Road including Kawangware, Ndware Road, and parts of Kikuyu Road will be without electricity from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Key institution such as Precious Blood Riruta school and Kawangware Law court are among those impacted.
The CentralRift Region, specifically Kipkelion and Fort Ternan in Kericho County, wil experience power cut from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Affected areas include Kutung, Kipkelion town, Cherara, Murao, Kasheen, Tunnel, Toroton and Blue hills.
In the North Rift, parts of Nandi County including Chebarbar and Chepterit will be offline from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, disrupting power to local markets and residential areas.
The Western Region will see interruptions in Siaya County, notably Apate market, Hawinga Girls, Hawinga market, Sidundo market.
South Nyanza’s Migori County will be hit hard, with the entire Sori area- including hospitals, beaches, and schools -going dark for the day. Areas such as Sori town, Alendo Village and secondary school, Sidika village, parts of Kiabuya, Sori Malimali and Sori beaches.
In the Mt. Kenya Region, Nyeri and Murang’a counties will face outages in areas like Juakali, Ngoru, Kenol, and Kariguini primary, Kibiko and Zaina.
