Athletics Kenya unveils 2026 Track and Field calendar ahead of Commonwealth Games

Athletics Kenya (AK) has announced the official 2026 Track and Field calendar, with the season set to kick off in Mumias on November 7–8, 2025, marking the first major event of the new athletics year.

The series will feature a blend of open and invitational meets, offering athletes competitive opportunities to fine-tune their form ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

According to the schedule, the first four legs will be open meets, allowing athletes to register and participate through a public link, while the final two will be premium invitation-only events featuring the country’s elite performers.

Athletics Kenya said the structured competition framework is designed to enhance athlete preparedness for both national trials and major international championships.

“The 2026 Track and Field Series will not only help athletes fine-tune their performance ahead of the Commonwealth Games but will also reinforce Kenya’s dominance in global athletics,” the federation stated.

The governing body reaffirmed its commitment to promoting consistency, quality, and competitiveness within the domestic circuit while offering emerging talents exposure to high-level competition throughout the season.
