Bahati promises to help the woman who claimed to be his mother find her biological child

Musician Kelvin Bahati has pledged to help Judith Makokha, the woman who had claimed to be his biological mother trace her missing child after DNA results confirmed that the two are not biologically related.

The results come weeks after the pair underwent a maternal DNA test, a procedure that compares a mother’s genetic markers with those of a child to determine whether there is a biological relationship.

The woman had earlier claimed that she left her baby at Mama Ngina Children’s Home due to financial hardship, saying she believed the institution would give the child a better chance at life.

She maintained that the baby she left behind carried the same name as the singer, which led her to believe he could be her son.

Speaking after the results were revealed, the woman said she had prepared herself for any outcome.

The DNA test was conducted several weeks ago following an emotional meeting between the two that drew widespread public attention.

Before the results were released, the woman had expressed hope that the test would confirm her belief.

She also said that since the public learnt about it, life has never been the same again; she has been under a lot of societal pressure, and she hoped that with the results, the dust would settle.

For Bahati, the process also brought mixed emotions. The singer explained that he grew up believing he was an orphan and remembers seeing his mother before she passed away, which made the claims difficult to process.

Following the results, Bahati said he is willing to help the woman follow up on records at the children’s home in an effort to establish what may have happened to the child she believes she left there.

The development brings clarity to weeks of speculation surrounding the claims while shifting focus to the woman’s search for the child she says she lost years ago.
