Kenyan musician Bahati has raised alarm after his home was reportedly raided by armed gangsters in the early hours of Friday, August 29 morning, just days after he and his wife Diana Marua flaunted bundles of cash worth millions on social media.
According to Bahati, the incident occurred between 4:27 a.m. and 5:30 a.m., when unknown assailants allegedly gained access to his compound.
Although no injuries were reported, the singer said the raid left his family shaken and fearful for their safety.
Taking to his Instagram page, Bahati wrote: “Alert! Gangsters visited my home between 4:27 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. Stay away from my money or else you’ll be shot dead.”
He later followed up with a formal appeal to the Inspector General of Police, urging authorities to provide additional protection for his household and the surrounding neighborhood.
“Dear Inspector General’s Office, I’m making a formal complaint. Please organize extra security for my family and neighbors. Our lives are in danger,” Bahati posted.
Adding to the alarm, Bahati also shared CCTV footage from the night of the raid. In the clip, two unidentified men can be seen outside his gate, one attempting to force it open while the other stands guard.
The footage has since sparked an uproar online, with fans expressing concern for the artist’s safety and others warning against showcasing wealth publicly.
The raid comes only days after Bahati and Diana posted videos displaying huge bundles of cash in their home, a move that many believe may have attracted the criminals’ attention.
Clout-chasing with Harambee Stars?
Bahati has been at the end of public criticism after he failed to honour his promise of gifting Harambee Stars KSh1 million if they win their CHAN 2024 match against Morocco, which they did.
The match, played on 10th August 2025, ended with 9-men Kenya beating the African giants 1:0.
Bahati, however, has denied claims of clout-chasing and instead posted the video flaunting KSh3 million in cash, inissting that money is not an issue for him.
Bahati explained that he was unable to fulfill his promise because he was busy planning his son’s birthday and also claimed that Harambee Stars officials did not answer his calls, making it hard for him to send the money.
