Beach Volleyball will officially make its debut at the 2025 Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASA) Games, scheduled for August in Kakamega, Kenya Kenya Volleyball federation ( KVF).

The announcement was made on Tuesday during a high-level meeting between Kenya Volleyball and education ministry held at the Ministry of Education headquarters, Jogoo House, chaired by Mr. Nelson M. Sifuna, Head of the Directorate of Field Coordination and Co-curricular Activities.

Mr. Sifuna confirmed the inclusion of Beach Volleyball among five new sports approved for the regional competition. The other additions are Chess, Cricket, Scrabble, and Lacrosse reflecting a broader strategy to diversify youth sports and increase inclusivity.

“This is a landmark decision that speaks volumes about the evolution of sports in our education system. The growing interest in Beach Volleyball among young athletes shows the future is getting brighter,” Mr. Sifuna stated.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders in the education and sports sectors, including Deputy Director of Education Mr. Reuben Kipturgo, KSSSA Vice Chairman Mr. Maurice Okumu, and Secretary Mr. David Ngugi, along with representatives from each of the newly introduced disciplines.

Representing the Beach Volleyball Commission were Chairman Mr. Moses Mbuthia and Coach Patrick Owino, both of whom were praised for their dedication to the sport’s development in the region.

The inclusion of Beach Volleyball is expected to elevate the excitement of this year’s FEASSA Games and offer a fresh platform for student-athletes to showcase their talent in the sand.
