Bhang worth Ksh 4.7 million discovered in an abandoned vehicle in Kakamega

National Police Service officers on patrol along the Kakamega-Mumias Road recovered an abandoned black Toyota Fielder motor vehicle.

Upon searching, the officers discovered bhang packed in seven bags, weighing 159.15 kg with an estimated street value of Ksh 4,774,500.

The vehicle was towed and detained at Kakamega Police Station pending further investigations to identify the owner.

This comes right after Tigoni police officers, acting on intelligence, arrested a suspected drug trafficker in Karambaini Tea Zone, Kiambaa Sub-County.

The suspect, who was riding a TVS Star motorcycle (registration KMCY 735B) and posing as a khat transporter, was found with 800 rolls of bhang concealed in a woven bag, along with Ksh 3,795 believed to be proceeds of crime.

Both the suspect and the exhibits are in police custody, pending arraignment.
