Biker Brayo rescues passengers on Magadi Road after their matatu rolled over

Nairobi’s popular content creator, Brayo, known to his thousands of followers as the Nairobi Biker, found himself in the right place at the right time to help a group of terrified passengers.

This is after their matatu overturned on a rain-slicked Magadi Road and what started as a regular commute quickly turned into a high-stakes rescue.

The 33-seater matatu, which was headed towards the Central Business District (CBD), reportedly lost control on the slippery road and flipped onto its side.

Passengers were left visibly shaken and desperate, with some calling for help from inside the overturned vehicle. Brayo, who was riding nearby, was among the first to arrive at the scene.

Acting quickly and decisively, he rushed to the bus and, along with other motorists, began the frantic effort to help those trapped inside.

He worked to break the back glass of the bus, creating an escape route for the passengers.

“I was the first to respond, breaking the back glass to save trapped passengers before continuing with my day,” Brayo shared in a heartfelt social media post.

One of the victims, visibly shaken and struggling to find her footing on the wet road, was among those helped to safety.

Other road users also joined in the rescue efforts, working together to pull victims from the wreckage before emergency services arrived.

The incident is a sobering reminder of the dangers on Kenyan roads, especially with the recent change in weather.

August has been particularly tragic, with over 80 lives lost in road accidents across the country. Drivers and road users are being urged to exercise extreme caution as the rains make roads increasingly dangerous.

“This experience reminded me how quickly life can change on the road,” Brayo wrote. “Every time we drive or ride, we carry not only our lives but also the lives of others around us. Let’s all make road safety a priority.” Wrote Brayo.

He concluded his message by sending prayers to the injured and urging everyone to learn from the accident and commit to safer roads for all.
