Benson Gathungu, popularly known as Bishop Kiengei, the founder of Jesus Compassion Ministries (JCM), has called on Kenyans to come together and assist families affected by the recent floods that swept through several parts of the country.
In a statement shared om his Facebook page on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the preacher said his church has already begun hosting some of the victims whose homes were destroyed by the heavy rains.
He urged well-wishers to donate essential items to help those displaced begin rebuilding their lives.
According to Kiengei, the church is currently receiving people who have been left stranded by the flooding and is appealing for support in the form of clothes, bedding, and hygiene products.
“This rains have deeply affected many people in kenya, houses have submerged properties destroyed and people have shifted,” he wrote.“

Today at JCM CHURCH INT’L HQ’S, we have received victims of the downpour, please iam appealing to you, if you have clothes, beddings and hygiene stuffs that you can share, visit the LORD’S STORE and we will reach out to the needy,” he added.
He further encouraged members of the public to show kindness to those going through difficult moments.
“It might be old to you, but new to someone, let’s be compassionate especially to everyone around us who is in need,” Kiengei stated.
The appeal comes after devastating floods struck parts of the country on Friday, March 6, 2026, with Nairobi among the areas most affected.
Authorities reported that more than 40 people lost their lives during the disaster, while many others sustained injuries and were rushed to hospitals for treatment.
The heavy rains also caused massive destruction to homes and businesses, leaving property worth hundreds of millions of shillings destroyed and many families displaced.
