Police in Malaa, Machakos County, are investigating an incident where a middle aged man was lynched on Monday, May 13 night by the mob after an attempt to steal a motorbike from a bodaboda rider.
The deceased is said to have been burned to death by bodaboda riders and locals after attempting to steal a motorcyle from one of the riders he had hired to transport him from Malaa market to Koma area.
According to eye witnesses, the deceased hired the bodaboda rider for transport from Koma market to Malaa town only to attack the rider on the way and escape with the motorcycle.
The owner of the bike is said to have reported to his friends in Koma about the incident. The fellow bodaboda operators would wait for him and lynched him upon arriving at Koma.
