Senator H.E. José Gonçalves Oliveira of Pará, the largest state in Brazil, which is larger than the size of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania has arrived in Kenya courtesy of The City Businessman James Wanjohi Njoroge to explore multi-billion dollar investment opportunities in health technology and agriculture. Brazil is looking to invest up to $40 billion in Kenya, strengthening bilateral ties between Brazil and East Africa.
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Senator Oliveira received a warm welcome from Danson Mungatana, Chairman of the African Congress Delegation in South Africa and Senator for Tana River County.
During his stay, Senator Oliveira will also visit Uganda next week as part of a broader mission to deepen inter-country trade and investment relations in the region.

His visit follows an official invitation by James Wanjohi Njoroge, a prominent Kenyan businessman and Director at the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI). Wanjohi, who also heads a major business enterprise in Brazil, holds a dual leadership role at the East African Chamber of Commerce and KNCCI, and has been instrumental in promoting trade between Kenya and Brazil.
Senator Oliveira is scheduled to meet various stakeholders in Kenya’s business community, including a courtesy call to KNCCI President Dr. Eric Ruto. His itinerary includes high-level discussions aimed at fostering collaboration in sectors critical to Kenya’s economic growth.
Wanjohi, known for his close ties to President William Ruto of Kenya and President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, expressed optimism that the Senator’s visit will mark a new chapter in Brazil–East Africa relations.
