Brian Okello, the man who was captured in a viral video intervening to rescue a woman during a boda-boda fare dispute has broken his silence, defending his actions amid mixed public reactions online.
Okello who has since been nicknamed ”superman” by social media users while others labeled him a ”simp” and ” feminist” said he acted out of instinct after witnessing what he described as an assault.

According to his account, he had been going about his normal morning routine when he noticed a commotion and a crowd gathering around a woman who was allegedly being beaten.
”A man who hits a woman deserves to face the consequences. She could be my sister and tomorrow she might be the one to help me,” Brian Okello noted.
Okello added on that he stepped in without fully understanding the situation but felt compelled to to act in defense of the woman. However his interventions reportedly escalated the situation, as boda-boda riders at the scene allegedly turned on him.
Despite the backlash, both at the scene and online, the Okello maintained that he does not regret his actions, emphasizing the importance of standing up against violence.
The incident has parked widespread debate on social media platforms, with Kenyans divided over his actions, some praising his courage and others criticizing him for intervening in what they viewed as a dispute he did not fully understand.
