Busia: Bukhalalire Boys High School closed indefinitely

Bukhalalire Boys High School in Busia County has been closed indefinitely after the school dormitory was razed down leaving 6 students nursing injuries. 

Following the incident, Butula Sub County director of education John Kemei ordered the students to leave the school until further notice. 

The education director said that the decision was reached after the school board of management decided to release the students to go home following the Tuesday May 13, 2025 1.00am incident even as he called on well-wishers to step in and help the school. Many Students lost their valuables.

The school principal, Didmus Amukati said that the school board will have a meeting and decide the modalities of how students will return to the school. The night dormitory fire left more than 200 students in the cold.

The cause of the fire has not been established yet but investigations are underway to unravel  possibilities of arson.
