By-elections are now fully underway, with voters beginning to cast their ballots at select polling centres across the country. The exercise has been reported as proceeding smoothly in most areas, following rigorous preparation by electoral teams.
Voters began queuing early at centres such as Kanyuambora in Mbeere North constituency, as polling stations opened promptly at 6:00 am.
The crucial preparatory phase, involving the deployment of personnel and materials, is now complete. Election materials, polling officials, and security personnel were all successfully dispatched to their respective stations yesterday.
To ensure the prompt 6:00 am start, all polling officials were required to remain at their assigned stations overnight, guaranteeing readiness.
The electoral period is strictly governed by rules concerning the opening and closing times, and provisions for voters who arrive just before the close of polls.
Stations opened at 6:00 am and will close at 5:00 pm.
Any time lost during the day’s polling due to delays or interruptions will be recovered at the official closing time.
“Voters in the queue by 5.00pm will be allowed to vote.”
Crucially, all eligible voters who are physically in the queue by 5:00 pm will be allowed to cast their vote, ensuring no one is disenfranchised due to high turnout at the end of the day.
The by-elections are taking place across multiple wards and constituencies, with several locations generating active live updates.
Areas under close monitoring include:
Kasipul, Ugunja, Malava, Magarini, Baringo (various wards), Kanyuambora (Mbeere) and several other wards across the country.
