CAF, Morocco’s ONCF sign deal to boost fan travel for AFCON 2025

With just 11 days to go before kick-off, the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) and Morocco’s national railway operator, Office National des Chemins de Fer (ONCF), have sealed a major partnership aimed at easing travel for fans attending the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025.

The agreement, signed by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe and ONCF Director General Mohamed Rabie Khlie, officially makes ONCF an Official Sponsor of the tournament affirming its commitment to supporting Africa’s biggest football competition.

As part of the deal, ONCF will roll out a special train schedule throughout the tournament period, increasing seat capacity during peak travel times to accommodate the expected surge of local and foreign fans.

The operator is also expected to unveil exclusive travel packages and discounted offers to ensure affordable and seamless movement between host cities.

The signing ceremony was also attended by Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football and CAF First Vice President, alongside CAF General Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba.

ONCF, Morocco’s leading mobility provider, will leverage its extensive railway network to deliver fast, safe, and comfortable transportation for millions of supporters.

The collaboration is seen as a key pillar in enhancing the fan experience and ensuring efficient logistics during the month-long event.

According to ONCF, the initiative reflects the company’s ethos of connecting communities while promoting sustainability and inclusion values that align closely with Morocco’s national development goals.

The partnership also supports the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to promote sport, strengthen African unity, and empower young people across the continent.

CAF says the collaboration marks an important milestone in preparations for what is expected to be a world-class AFCON, prioritising accessibility, environmental responsibility, and the continued rise of African football on the global stage.
