CHAN 2025 :Kenya ,Uganda ,Tanzania to roll out PAMOJA VISA to facilitate cross-border movement for players, officials, and fans

The governments of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania have reaffirmed their joint commitment to delivering a seamless and successful African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament this August. With less than 60 days to kick-off, the three nations are finalizing preparations to ensure the first-ever jointly hosted CHAN is a landmark event for African football.

In a joint press briefing held in Nairobi on June 3, 2025, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, Hon. Salim Mvurya, highlighted significant progress made by the host countries.

“We have convened here today to affirm our unity and resolve as the PAMOJA team in delivering a world-class tournament,” Mvurya stated.

He emphasized ongoing collaboration to address emerging issues and expressed gratitude for the confidence shown by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

To facilitate cross-border movement for players, officials, and fans, the three countries will roll out a special PAMOJA VISA.

Details of the visa will be announced soon, with implementation modalities coordinated with respective Ministries of Immigration. Additionally, the countries have agreed on tax exemptions and rebates for critical equipment imports, and are finalizing a joint budget estimated at USD 39 million (approximately KSh 5.05 billion).

Security remains a top priority, with all Local Organizing Committee members having undergone CAF-led security training. Infrastructure projects across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda are on track, with completion expected by the end of June 2025.

Tanzania’s Minister for Sports, Prof. Palamagamba Kabudi, and Uganda’s Minister of State for Sports, Hon. Peter Ogwang, both commended the regional cooperation and extended a warm invitation to fans and stakeholders across the continent.

As the countdown continues, the PAMOJA team is focused on showcasing African unity, culture, and talent, promising an unforgettable CHAN 2025 tournament for East Africa and beyond.
