The Talanta Afrika Festival is making its debut this May, bringing together top music talent across three East African cities. Headlining the event are Jamaican dancehall sensation Vybz Kartel and Kenyan artist Charisma.
Organisers describe the festival as a pan-African showcase of music, culture, and creativity, offering a stage for both established performers and emerging talent in music, fashion, and the arts. The event is also intended to highlight Africa’s creative industries and encourage collaboration between local and international artists.
“This festival is about more than music it’s about connecting people through culture and shared creative energy. We want the world to see what East Africa has to offer,” said Bushington from Uganda’s Tunez Records.
The tour kicks off on May 1 at Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala, Uganda, moves to BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda, on May 2, and wraps up on May 8 at Laureate Gardens in Nairobi, Kenya.
Kenyan musician Charisma expressed excitement about joining the regional tour. “This is my first mini-tour of East Africa — I can’t wait to perform for fans across the region,” he said.
Other featured performers include Uganda’s Elijah Kitaka and Rwanda’s Element Eleéeh, who will take part in live performances and collaborative showcases throughout the festival.
Co-organiser Mayanja Jackson emphasised the festival’s long-term vision: “We are building a sustainable platform to grow East Africa’s creative industry and strengthen collaboration across borders. This is meant to be an ongoing movement, not just a one-off event.”
Tickets for all three shows are now available, offering fans the chance to experience East Africa’s largest celebration of music and culture.
