Charlene Ruto, the daughter of President William Ruto has raised alarm over a planned unauthorized publication of her biography.
Speaking during a press briefing on Tuesday June 3, 2025, Charlene explained that it was wrong for anyone to publish a book about her, without seeking her permission.
She emphasized that the planned publication was an infringement on her rights.
According to the First Daughter, it would have been more appropriate for the author to seek her consent before undertaking such a project.
“We have a very bad culture in our country, where we misuse people’s names and we get away with it and that is not right.
“I have submitted my statement to DCI and we are following all the legal procedures and that is what we have to learn as young people,” Charlene said.
In addition, she advised citizens to look for opportunities in the right way and by respecting other people’s rights.
“The gentleman never came to me with a suggestion that he wants to write a book on my behalf and for me that is a misappropriate use of my name,” she said.
“The day I am ready to write my book, I will write it,” she added.
Regarding the content of the book, Charlene explained that it is not about how positive it is, but it’s all about respecting each other in society.
The First Daughter further revealed that she has taken necessary legal steps by recording a statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
In her statement, Charlene urged the youth to remain vigilant and cautious in their pursuit of livelihood, reminding them to always uphold integrity and respect for other people.
