Chelsea clinch first trophy under Maresca with dominant Conference League final win over Real Betis

Chelsea have secured their first piece of silverware under manager Enzo Maresca and completed a historic clean sweep of European trophies, thrashing Real Betis 4-1 in a dramatic UEFA Conference League final.

The night in Wroclaw started brightly for Betis, as Isco and Abde Ezzalzouli combined brilliantly, with the Moroccan winger finishing off a superb pass from Isco to give the Spaniards a ninth-minute lead.

For much of the first half, Chelsea appeared sluggish and struggled to break down a determined Betis side, raising fears that their European dream might slip away.

However, Maresca’s tactical acumen came to the fore after the break. The Italian manager made inspired changes, notably bringing on club captain Reece James at halftime, which injected new life into the Blues. Chelsea’s response was electric.

Cole Palmer, back to his creative best, set up quick-fire goals for Enzo Fernandez and Nicolas Jackson within five minutes early in the second half, turning the game on its head.

As Betis faded, Chelsea’s substitutes continued to make an impact. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall squared for Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho, who curled a classy finish past Betis goalkeeper Adrian.

In the final minute of normal time, Fernandez teed up Moises Caicedo to cap off the scoring and seal a famous victory.

The triumph marks Chelsea’s first trophy under Maresca and completes their collection of all major European titles.

The Blues’ dominant second-half display showcased their depth, resilience, and attacking flair, providing a perfect platform for Maresca to build upon in the coming seasons.
