Chelsea nearing deal with Ajax’s highly-rated young defender Jorrel Hato

Chelsea are reportedly on the verge of securing a significant signing with Ajax’s highly-rated young defender, Jorrel Hato.

According to recent updates, including information from David Ornstein, negotiations between the two clubs are progressing well, with an agreement on a transfer fee nearing completion.

While the exact figure is still being finalized, a compromise is expected in the coming days, with the price anticipated to be above €40 million.

Personal terms with the 19-year-old Netherlands international are already understood to be in place, paving the way for his potential move to Stamford Bridge.

Hato is a versatile defender, capable of playing both as a central defender and at left-back.

Despite his young age, he has already made over 100 first-team appearances for Ajax and has earned senior caps for the Netherlands national team.

He is widely considered one of the most promising young defensive talents in Europe, and his arrival would mark another exciting addition for the London club.

Diaz Joins Bayern: €75m Deal Agreed

Luis Diaz is expected to complete his medical in the coming days after the German champions sealed a €75 million (£65.5 million) deal, including add-ons, with Liverpool for the Colombian forward.

Diaz, 28, was noticeably absent from Liverpool’s pre-season match and now has permission to fly to Europe for a medical.

This comes after an initial £58.6 million bid was turned down.

Liverpool has already signed attacking options Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike this summer and is eyeing Alexander Isak.

Diaz joined Liverpool in January 2022 for £37 million, scoring 41 goals in 148 appearances, including 13 in their Premier League-winning season. His 17 goals in 2024-25 marked his best campaign.

Bayern, coming off their 34th Bundesliga title, needs attacking reinforcements, especially with Jamal Musiala out long-term due to injury.

Diaz was a top performer in combined goals/assists, shots on target, chances created, and dribbles completed, and his work rate saw him win possession in the final third more than any other Liverpool player.
