Cherargei slams Sifuna over ‘ODM confusion’ remarks, says Ruto, Raila will work beyond 2027

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has come out strongly against Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, accusing him of misleading Kenyans regarding the ongoing cooperation between the Kenya Kwanza administration and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party.

Speaking through his X account, Cherargei criticized Sifuna’s recent remarks in which he accused ODM of being confused over its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with President William Ruto’s government.

Sifuna, in an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, July 22 night, had questioned the direction of ODM, particularly when it comes to supporting a government he says is out of touch with the grievances of Kenyans, and allegedly engages in extra-judicial killings.

“Senator Sifuna is misleading the nation yet ODM signed a working partnership with Kenya Kwanza Government which is working on very well. He signed the document,” Cherargei declared.

The Senator further claimed that Sifuna’s frustrations stem from being left out of top-level appointments that have favoured other senior ODM figures. He listed prominent party members such as John Mbadi, Hassan Joho, Wycliffe Oparanya, and Opiyo Wandayi as examples of leaders already enjoying cooperation with the current regime.

“He is disappointed that most of his colleagues who were appointed to Cabinet like Mbadi, Joho, Oparanya and Wandayi,” Cherargei remarked, adding that political maturity demands collaboration for the country’s development.

In a bold prediction, the Nandi legislator suggested that the cooperation between President Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga is not only functional but likely to last beyond the 2027 General Election.

“Ruto and Raila shall work beyond 2027. The earlier he (Sifuna) bolts out, the better for him,” Cherargei said.

Cherargei also reaffirmed his support for the new political realignment dubbed “Tutam,” saying it reflects the reality of current national unity efforts.
