Media personality Ciru Muriuki has opened up about the deep emotional and physical pain she endured following the death of her fiancé, Charles Ouda.
In a recent interview with Stephanie Nganga on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, Ciru described how her life instantly changed and the profound impact grief had on her.

Ciru shared that her loss went beyond just mourning their relationship; it was the immediate loss of a future they had meticulously planned together. The transition from joy to heartbreak was sudden and jarring.
“It was mourning him. We lost such an important person.”
“I went from planning a wedding to figuring out cremation.”
She explained that the pain was confusing, as she was mourning both the person she loved and the shared life that was suddenly gone.
Ciru revealed that the grieving process severely affected her physical well-being. The shock and disbelief of the first weeks led to significant physical changes.
She could not eat properly, she lost weight, and in the first 12 weeks, she estimated losing 30 per cent of her body weight.
She attributed the extreme weight loss to the state of shock she was in, where her body was simply reacting to the inability to process the reality of her loss.
Ciru described the period immediately following Charlie’s death as an unreal, disorienting experience.
“Because of grief, I could not understand what was happening.”
“It was shocking, I felt like I woke up in another universe. It is like you wake up and everybody else is speaking Japanese.”
She shared that the pain was so overwhelming that she simply wished for the entire world to stop moving so she could get off.
“I was like, please, shukisha. I wanted the world to stop so that I could get off.”
Ciru noted that her decision to speak publicly about the loss now, over a year later, is a sign that she is slowly beginning to heal and accept the reality of her fiancé’s death.
“It has taken me more than a year to say that sentence, that Charlie is dead.”
