With just days remaining before the 27th edition of the Safari7s kicks off at Nyayo National Stadium, Kenya Sevens Head Coach Kevin Mwema has named the Shujaa and Morans squads that will carry the nation’s hopes in Africa’s premier rugby sevens tournament.
The Shujaa team, led by co-captains George Ooro and Samuel Asati, combines experience, speed, and flair promising the home fans a thrilling display of attacking rugby.
Shujaa Squad:
Kevin Wekesa, George Ooro (C), Vincent Onyala, Dennis Abukuse, Gabby Ayimba, Samuel Asati (C), Nygel Amaitsa, Christan Ojwang, Patrick Odongo, Jackson Siketi, Floyd Wabwire, Festus Shiasi, and William Mwanji.
Meanwhile, Kenya’s second string side, the Morans, will showcase the next generation of rising stars under the leadership of John Okoth.
The youthful squad features several debutants eager to impress on home soil, including Clinton Amukachi, Daniel Kipchirchir, Rayvon Ambale, Eugene Ojiambo, David Nyangige, Elton Amalemba, Arnold Agonda, Victor Mola, and Arnold Muita.

Speaking after unveiling the teams, Wambua emphasized the importance of the tournament in shaping Kenya’s sevens depth.
“This year’s Safari7s is not just about showcasing talent, but about building depth and testing combinations as we prepare for bigger challenges ahead. The blend of experience and debutants gives us balance, and the home fans can expect a feast of rugby,” he said.
The Safari7s is set to run from October 10 to 12 at Nyayo Stadium, drawing teams from across the continent for three days of top-class sevens action.
