Grief as Mbale teacher is brutally murdered just metres from his house

Grief has engulfed the student and teaching fraternity at Mbale Boys, Vihiga County, following the brutal murder of a teacher.
Business Studies' teacher Silas Owuor, 28, was attacked by unknown persons at around 8pm on Wednesday. He was badly injured in the attack near his house.
"We were with him just moments earlier," the school's principal Peter Omutiti told tv47.digital in an interview. "He had received money from several parents and had spent the better part of the afternoon dispensing it to students."
The money was meant for bus fare as students proceeded home for the mid-term break.
Omutiti says upon receiving reports of the attack, they rushed to the scene and found him unconscious. Owuor was pronounced dead at the spot.
"He was a good neighbour, beloved by all," one of the neighbours Susan Musimbi said. "His death is not only a loss to the family and school but to the community at large."
The residents called on the county government to improve the teachers' quarters and the security to forestall a repeat of such incidents in future.
