Court orders mental assessment for State House murder suspect

The case of Kithuka Kimunyi Musyimi, the prime suspect in the killing of a General Service Unit (GSU) officer at State House, Nairobi, has been deferred pending a mental assessment report.

When the matter came up for mention on November 13, 2025, the prosecution informed the court that the accused had been taken to Kenyatta National Hospital last week for a mental evaluation.

The report, however, is expected to be ready in two weeks’ time.

The outcome of the medical assessment will determine whether Musyimi is fit to take plea in connection with the officer’s killing.

The court directed that the matter be mentioned on November 27, when the mental report will be presented and further directions issued.

Musyimi is accused of fatally attacking a GSU officer attached to the State House security detail.
