Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has reaffirmed the Kenya Kwanza administration’s commitment to equitable development, particularly in historically marginalised regions such as Mbeere North.
Speaking during a public engagement forum focused on education empowerment and school development at Makúngúrù in Mbeere North, Embu County, CS Ruku announced the significant infrastructure milestone, the advertisement of the tender for the long-awaited Gìkuyarì–Kìriì–Ishiara road.
He stated that the project, now officially open for bidding through the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), marks a shift from political rhetoric to tangible action, with tender documents available for download starting Tuesday.
“This road has been used for political rhetoric for far too long. Now, under Kenya Kwanza, we are moving from talk to action,” Ruku said. “The advertisement of this tender is a big step forward in transforming the region’s road network.”
He stressed that the Kenya Kwanza government is prioritising areas that have been historically sidelined, ensuring fair distribution of national resources.
“This is a semi-arid area that past governments overlooked. But today, we are seeing real progress. Let’s stay the course and complete this journey of transformation together,” he urged.
CS Ruku also presided over the official handover of a new administration block at the School, reinforcing the government’s commitment to education. He highlighted education as a powerful tool for equalising opportunities across the country and pledged continued support to learners in underserved areas.
“Education remains the most powerful equaliser. We are working to ensure every learner, even in the most remote regions, has a fair chance,” he said.
Reflecting on his tenure as Mbeere North MP, Ruku endorsed UDA candidate Leonard Muriuki Wamuthende as the leader best positioned to carry forward the region’s development agenda.
He cited successful initiatives such as the Imarisha Elimu programme and infrastructure projects as foundations that need to be expanded.
“We did a lot of work when I served as your MP. Leonard Muriuki is the person who can continue with what we started,” Ruku stated.
At the same event, the CS took aim at the opposition campaigns being spearheaded by former Attorney General Justin Muturi and former Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti, dismissing them as ineffective and out of touch.
He claimed their influence in Mbeere North was waning and that the electorate had already shifted its support decisively to the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
“The people of Mbeere North are no longer gambling with their future. They want a leader who is present, who listens, and who acts,” he said. “Leadership is not about making noise or empty promises; it is about delivering real solutions.”
Ruku further accused Muturi and Kivuti of misleading the people of Mbeere in opposition, pointing to ongoing government investments in roads, water access, and youth empowerment as evidence of the Kenya Kwanza administration’s commitment to development in the region.
“Muthende’s rising popularity is no accident. It reflects the tangible benefits this government has delivered. The people are seeing the results,” Ruku noted.
Warning the residents against voting for what he described as detached and self-serving politicians. Ruku urged the electorate to choose leaders who are engaged and accessible.
“If a leader cannot be reached, cannot listen, and cannot respond, then such a leader has no business holding public office,” he said.
He urged the residents to align politically with the National government, arguing that continued support for UDA would ensure the smooth flow of development projects.
“A vote for UDA is a vote for continued progress,” Ruku declared. “Let us walk with the government and secure a better future for our people.”
