CS Ruku urges Mbeere North residents to reject ’empty opposition politics’

Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has called on residents of Mbeere North to steer clear of what he described as “empty and deceptive opposition politics.”

Speaking during a public engagement forum on education excellence held at Gikuyari in Embu County, Ruku warned that opposition leaders were peddling populist narratives and false promises that lacked any concrete development plans.

“The opposition is using sweet words to woo voters with fake promises and empty populism. They are selling lullabies instead of solutions. Mbeere North must not fall into that trap,” Ruku cautioned.

He emphasized that President William Ruto’s administration had already launched transformative projects across the country, with Mbeere North among the key beneficiaries.

Ruku urged residents to remain committed to the government’s development agenda, questioning why anyone would want to abandon a government that is already delivering results.

“How can they tell us to leave government when we are benefiting immensely from being in government? How confused can we be?” he posed rhetorically.

The CS highlighted the upcoming tarmacking of the long-awaited Gikuyari–Kirie road as one of the direct benefits of being aligned with the government.

He revealed that President Ruto had approved the project through an executive directive, bypassing bureaucratic procurement delays to fast-track its implementation.

“This road has been a long-standing need. It has been used as a political tool for far too long. The President has already given his directive, and soon, Gikuyari–Kirie will have a modern tarmac road. That is the kind of tangible development that being in government brings,” Ruku said.

Joining the CS at the event was former Mbeere North MP Muriuki Njagagua, who echoed the call for loyalty to the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Njagagua rallied residents to vote for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Leonard Muthende in the upcoming by-election, describing him as the only leader aligned with President Ruto’s vision for the constituency.

“We must show the opposition that we are firmly in government to stay. The best way to do that is by voting for Leonard Muthende, the UDA candidate, who will ensure Mbeere North remains part of the government’s transformation journey,” said Njagagua.

CS Ruku reiterated the Government’s commitment to engaging communities across the region, saying: “Engaging the residents of Siakago, Embu County, on the ongoing economic transformation of the region and empowering young people through access to quality education.”

This, he noted, remains a core pillar of the Kenya Kwanza administration’s efforts to uplift local communities and foster long-term development.

Ruku urged residents not to be swayed by what he termed “opposition theatrics,” insisting that only structured leadership rooted in tangible action could drive real progress for Mbeere North and the wider Embu region.
