Martin Githinji, popularly known as Daddie Marto, has spoken out following his highly publicized breakup with his wife, Koku Lwanga. He released a statement on August 5, 2025, denying allegations of abuse and shedding light on the events leading up to and following their separation.
“There’s no script for this part of life,” Marto stated, noting the emotional toll the separation has taken on him and his family. “I have lost my family as I knew it. And that loss has been louder in my heart than anything said about me online.”
According to Marto, the couple separated in December 2024, and by March 2025, the relationship had officially ended. He disclosed that he moved out in April 2025, but chose to remain nearby for the convenience and stability of their children.
Marto addressed recent allegations that made him look as violent and abusive. While referring to a specific incident that escalated into physical confrontation, he insisted that there has never been any history of violence in their relationship.
He also revealed that the incident is currently under police investigation, and out of respect for due process, he avoided disclosing certain specifics.
“Since that night, I have been portrayed in ways that suggest I am violent, abusive, manipulative, and irresponsible. Nothing could be further from the truth,” he wrote. “Before that night, there had never been a single act, or even a threat, of physical violence between us.”
He also clarified matters regarding financial obligations, emphasizing that he continued to support the household even after moving out which included, paying for rent, school fees, medical cover, utilities, and more.
He backed his claims with proof of payments and financial records. Marto also acknowledged his former partner’s contributions, especially her offer in March 2025 to help repay a loan he took to complete a housing project for her mother.
However, he said he encouraged her to redirect the repayment towards household support and later, rent, a decision he insists was mutual and documented.
In his statement, he revealed that he has instructed his lawyers to take legal action to end the ongoing character assault and find a respectful resolution through the courts.
“This statement is not about absolving myself. It’s about offering context where the story has been one-sided,” he stated. “There is their truth. There is my truth. And then there is the actual truth. Let the courts decide.”
He thanked those who have respected their privacy and stood by him. “I will heal privately, even as I live publicly. Because grace is not weakness. It is a choice, one I am still making, every day.”
