The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Mohamed Amin has called for collective efforts to combat radicalisation and violent extremism in the North Eastern region through close cooperation with security agencies.
Speaking on Saturday May 24, 2025 during an event at Sabunley Senior School in Wajir town, Amin urged local leaders and residents to work together to elevate Wajir County’s educational standards to match those of other counties.
“Education is the most powerful tool we can provide our youth, empowering them to think critically, challenge the status quo, and drive positive change,” declared Mohamed Amin, during a visit to his alma mater, Sabunley Senior School in Wajir town, Wajir County.
As the Chief Guest at a ceremony marking the official handover of a newly constructed 3.64-kilometre perimeter wall built by Mombasa Cement, Sabunley Senior School alumni, and other well-wishers, Mr. Amin delivered a compelling address on the transformative power of education and the need for community collaboration.
He emphasised the critical role of education in fostering progress and called for collective efforts to combat radicalisation and violent extremism in the region.
Addressing pressing social issues, theDCI Director highlighted the need to confront cultural practices like Maslaha, which often undermine the rule of law and obstruct justice, particularly in cases of Gender-Based Violence.
He also tackled the sensitive issue of land disputes, urging the community to adopt swift and effective mechanisms to resolve conflicts and prevent escalation.
In an era of rapid information exchange, the DCI boss cautioned against the dangers of disinformation and misinformation, particularly on digital platforms.
He stressed that unchecked false information could sow discord and jeopardise the harmony in the country.
