Diamond dismisses claims that Tanzanians are overlooked by global deals due to fake views

Wasafi Records CEO Diamond Platnumz has dismissed claims of Tanzanian artists being overlooked by international and global records over claims of them having fake views.

This was after Tanzanian media analyst Mdau alleged that Tanzanian artists fail to be approached and signed by international records due to local artists buying views to help raise their numbers.

In a comment on his socials, Diamond defended himself and the Tanzanian music industry, questioning the credibility of the claims, asking what international labels Mdau was referring to as he went on to listing the high-profile global contracts he has landed over the years.

The Yope hit maker revealed that he previously signed a contract with Universal Music worth $1 million (approximately Ksh129 million) before moving on to bigger opportunities and declining Roc Nation by Jay-Z, that offered him $250,000 (around Ksh32.2 million).

“Which international labels are you even talking about? I ended my contract with Universal for $1 million, Roc Nation gave me an offer of $250,000, which I rejected, and Warner gave me $5 million, which I signed, and those are the ones I am currently working with. Or do you think Warner is some unknown label from Mtoni Mtongani? You should do your research before rushing to write nonsense!” Diamond posted.

These conversations sparked a lot of conversations online as fans asked the hard question of, What about the other local artists who don’t have a name for themselves?
