Nairobi’s popular Dj Joe Mfalme together with 3 of his crew members and 3 accused police officers appeared before the Kibera Law Courts on Monday 25th March, 2024.
The 7 were arraigned in connection to the murder of a DCI officer by the name Felix Kelian Kitosi on March 16, 2024.
Joseph Mwendwa alias Dj Joe Mfalme was arraigned alongside Allan Ochieng, Eric Gathua, Simon Wanjiru, officers Khadija Abdi Wako, Sammy Rotich and Agnes Mogoi.
The prosecution informed the court that they required 21 days to gather adequate evidence before considering filing charges against the suspects.
The police informed Kibera Principal Magistrate Margret Murage that initial investigations indicated that the deceased was involved in a minor non-injury accident while driving his car along Kikuyu road.
It is alleged that the deceased was in a car that hit a vehicle that was had on board Allan, Eric, Simon, DJ Joe, and another individual who is currently on the run.
Police report on the incident
Fredrick Kosen, a police officer attached to DCI Dagoretti, stated that after the collision, a confrontation erupted which resulted in the deceased being assaulted by Allan, Eric, Simon, and DJ Joe.
Abdi reportedly visited the accident scene as he had been designated as the duty officer at Kikuyu police station to respond to traffic incidents on the night of March 16.
Upon arriving at the scene, he found the deceased being assaulted by Allan, Eric, and DJ Joe.
According to Fredrick, the deceased was forcefully escorted to Kikuyu police station by Allan, Eric, Simon, DJ Joe, and the officer.
It was at the station that he began to complain of abdominal pain, and he was observed to be urinating blood.
Sammy Rotich and Agnes Mogoi on the other hand were on duty at the station that day.
“They received the deceased who was complaining of injuries and witnessed the deceased urinating blood,” added Fredrick.
The deceased left the station with injuries. His abdominal pains intensified and was swiftly taken to Nairobi West Hospital for medical attention where he succumbed .
The officer’s body was moved to Umash Funeral home along Mbagathi where a post-mortem examination was conducted on Saturday.
