“Don’t re-elect my father,” Cameroon president’s daughter tells citizens

Brenda Biya, daughter of Cameroon’s long-serving president, Paul Biya, has called on her fellow countrymen not to vote for her father in the upcoming October 2025 election.

In a post on her TikTok Live session Brenda, who is popularly known on social media as “King Nasty,” accused her 92-year-old father of dragging the country into poverty, unemployment, and decades of stagnation.

Paul Biya, who has ruled Cameroon since 1982, is one of the world’s longest-serving leaders and is seeking another term.

If elected Biya will be 100 years old when he finishes his term.

In July 2025, Biya declared his intention to seek an eighth term in office in the country’s upcoming presidential election scheduled for October 12.

The announcement was made via posts on his official X account, shared in both French and English. Biya is currently the world’s oldest serving head of state.

“I am a candidate for the 12 October 2025 presidential election,” he said.

“Rest assured that my determination to serve you is commensurate with the serious challenges facing us. Together, there are no challenges we cannot meet.”

“The best is still to come,” he added.

Early August, Cameroon’s constitutional council upheld the decision by the country’s electoral body to exclude opposition leader Maurice Kamto from the presidential election.

Kamto was ruled out because a rival faction of the Manidem party which endorsed him presented another individual as a candidate, highlighting an internal squabble.

A total of 81 candidates applied to challenge Biya in the upcoming general election, but only seven were approved to run.
