Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has dismissed claims of a fallout between him and Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire.
Speaking Wednesday, June 4 during the National Macadamia Conference 2025, held at the Embu University Grounds, Kindiki clarified that he has no problem whatsoever with Governor Mbarire and any elected leader from the county.
“There is no problem whatsoever between me and Governor Cecily Mbarire or any other leader in Embu County,” Kindiki said. “Anyone who knows my relationship with the Embu County leaders and the people of Embu know the journey we have travelled over the years. Ignore whatever else you are hearing from anyone else.”
Kindiki’s assurances come days after Governor Mbarire slammed some senior national government official(s) of undermining her leadership.
Speaking during Madaraka Day celebrations in Embu County, Mbarire accused the said senior official(s) of going round the county, holding night political meetings behind her back.
“These officials who are in government are disrespecting me and they should stop,” she said in her speech at Makima Primary School in Mbeere, amid cheers from the crowd. “I will not sit back and watch as backroom political deals are made behind my back.”
The claims were exacerbated after Kindiki hosted the senator and several MPs from Embu County, with Governor Mbarire conspicuously missing.
