Dr. Antony Manyara, one of Kenya’s most influential youth leaders and emerging public intellectuals has launched his book, ‘The Other Side of Hard’ at the Manu Chandaria Auditorium at the University of Nairobi Towers.
The event that took place on Friday December 5, 2025, attracted more than 500 attendees and brought together leaders from business, politics, academia, and civil society.
Among the distinguished guests were real estate entrepreneur Mwenda Thuranira, Roysambu MP aspirant Moses Mwenda, and former SONU Chairperson and Molo MP aspirant Dann Mwangi, all of whom praised the book’s relevance and impact.
Many attendees purchased multiple copies during the launch, pledging to donate them to students across Nairobi and other regions.
In his address, Dr. Manyara reflected on the journey that inspired the book — a process he began in 2020 at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
He described The Other Side of Hard as a deeply personal exploration of resilience, shaped by moments of uncertainty and transformation. He also paid tribute to his parents, who attended the launch, dedicating the book to them for the values that shaped his character.
“This is only the beginning,” Dr. Manyara said. “I intend to take this message to schools and communities across Africa. Hard seasons do not diminish young people — they awaken a strength they often don’t realise they possess.”
The Other Side of Hard challenges traditional ideas about resilience by arguing that strength is not found only after adversity, but is formed within it.
The book offers practical insights for individuals facing change, loss, fear, or self-doubt, encouraging readers to move forward with authenticity and purpose.
Since its release, the book has gained rapid momentum as a tool for youth empowerment, personal growth, and leadership development.
Early readers have praised its clarity, emotional depth, and practical wisdom.
Copies of the book are available at Nuria Bookstore, Text Book Centre, UNES Bookshops, and online through Goodreads, Amazon, and other platforms.
