One person has been arrested following chaotic scenes at Bulimbo Catholic Church in Matungu, Kakakmega County during a fundraiser attended by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula.
Tension erupted when Mayoni Ward MCA Fredrick Watitwa clashed with Matungu MP Peter Oscar Nabulindo, leading to the MP snatching a microphone from the MCA.
Police reportedly confiscated several rungus alleged to have been ferried in a vehicle linked to the MCA.
Matungu OCPD Jane Pascal confirmed the arrest of one suspect who sustained injuries and was taken for medical examination before being arraigned in court.
Addressing the media shortly after the incident, Watitwa denied ownership of the vehicle in question.
Authorities have since launched investigations into the incident and the source of the confiscated weapons.
